As familiar with the music of Bach as with the French baroque repertoire, Reinoud Van Mechelen now ventures - together with his ensemble a nocte temporis - into his third great musical love: Mozart. In his concert arias, the young genius creates scenes that could have been lifted straight from his finest operas, with predominantly dramatic texts elevated by an exceptionally precise and expressive musical setting.

Anna Besson, co‑founder of the ensemble, performs the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D major, one of the highlights of Mozart’s flute repertoire, commissioned in 1777 by a wealthy amateur flautist. At the time, Mozart was penniless and overwhelmed with unfinished work, and in reality simply reworked his own Oboe Concerto in C major - with sublime results. She is joined by harpist Clara Izambert for the Concerto for Flute and Harp in C major, in which both instruments engage in a dialogue of graceful clarity, characteristic of Mozart’s Salzburg period.
